It’s snow day #2 in the Midwest! It’s our state’s turn to pretty much shut down for a couple of days, and I’m not complaining.
We went from this yesterday morning, as I ventured out to get the paper:
To almost a foot this morning, after a solid 24 hours of snow (and there doesn’t even appear to be a paper to get):
With the husband still nursing his broken ribs, we’re very thankful for our young friend Evan (a classmate of Middle Sister and The Boy) who came over and cleared us off twice yesterday, as well as our neighbor Pat down the street, who finished us off this morning. Both without being asked. I love our community.
I’m perfectly happy snuggled up at home with good movies (watched the final episode of Sherlock season 3 last night – !!!!!!!!! Lots of shrieking and fist-pumping in the last couple of minutes of the show), crocheting (which I discovered should NOT be attempted while watching Sherlock, as I made a huge mistake and have to take it out and do it over), working on a new book proposal, and baking.
We had our weekly load of over-ripe bananas in the kitchen – see My house is bananas B-A-N-A-N-A-S for details – so I’m trying a change-up on a favorite banana bread recipe, using Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. Should be equally moist, with a nice tang to it.
Here’s to inclement weather!
I hate snow!

Yeah, I’m not a fan of snow, either. But I love that I’ve always had jobs where I got to take snow days!
