Falling into Autumn

I know I’m rushing the season by a couple of weeks, but I’ve had it with summer and am ready for autumn. How do I know it’s time to move on?

•School started THREE WEEKS ago. That unquestionably means summer is over.

•Pools are closed and all our family’s vacation plans were over more than a month ago. There’s no call for hot weather at this point.

•On the way home from the grocery store I saw, just down the street, a gorgeous vine with three perfectly round pumpkins on it, hanging over a neighbor’s fence.

•Though I’m quite pleased with Middle Sister and myself for mowing AGAIN today, it would be perfectly lovely if we didn’t have to do it any more.

•I’m sick to death of my summer clothes. Noticed my super cool tall boots in the closet and stared at them with a deep longing. I’m way past ready to wear skinny jeans, tall boots, and a cardy.

So, as of today, I’m officially pretending that fall has actually arrived.

Anyone care to join me?

  1. *sigh* yes, I’m ready…but I’m pretty sure we have a couple more months to go—according to my memories of living in the Pacific Northwest. The south seems to have seasons. Hot, and not-so-hot.
